On behalf of the Organizing and Scientific Committees, I am honoured to invite you to participate in the 19th International Congress of the Polish Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. For the first time, our meeting will be held in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region, which includes historical lands of Kujawy, Krajny, Pałuki, Dobrzyń Land, Chełmno Land, South Pomerania, Tuchola Woods and Kociewie. These areas have been and still are an exceptional testimony of rich and dramatic history of Poland.
The Organizing Committee invites you to Bydgoszcz, the largest and dynamically developing town in this region, on 13–16 September 2017.
You will have the opportunity to meet worldwide-recognized lecturers and experts both in the area of anaesthesiology and intensive care. Moreover, among the Scientific Committee’s members there are famous Polish authorities from chairs, teaching hospitals, hospital wards and scientific units which are setting the direction of the development of Polish anaesthesiology and intensive care and determining its recognition in Europe and worldwide.
The organizers have ensured sufficient number and high quality of specialized practical workshops, lectures and presentations, consistent with the idea of continuous vocational training, and thematic plenary sessions both in Polish and in English with simultaneous translation. The Congress will take place in the Opera Nova localized in the city Centre. The Opera, along with the picturesque Mill Island and its unique infrastructure, is the reason for pride of the residents of Bydgoszcz.
The scientific part of the Congress will be accompanied by cultural and entertaining programme that will allow the Congress participants to relax after scientific sessions and exhausting workshops and educational sessions.
Bydgoszcz is ready for hosting as many as 1,700 Congress participants; therefore, I strongly encourage everyone who is interested in our specialty to attend the sessions and the social programme. The Congress will be the biggest event of this significance within a few decades in this important, although often underestimated, region of Poland.
I believe that the 19th International Congress of the Polish Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care will contribute to further improvement of the integration of our community and to increase in its scientific and practical potential for the benefits of our patients. This event will provide better recognition of our specialty among general public and will make more than 6,000 of our colleagues feel pride and satisfaction that they belong to constantly increasing group of the Polish Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care members and have the opportunity of training and realizing extremely difficult therapeutic process involving the specialty with over 60-year tradition in Poland.
